The 7th Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation ruled that the time allotted to an employee to perform religious worship constitutes a rest break within the meaning of Article 68 of Labor Law No. 4857. It held that when calculating overtime, the time used for prayer must likewise be treated as a rest break, and that a judgment based on an overtime calculation which failed to take this into account should therefore be reversed.
